Floored!

I have been delinquent in posting updates on our construction for my two followers! You know who you are! Actually, as of now the project is done! We are in the process of moving in but it looks a little hectic at the moment - in a state of transition. So, below are some pictures of the new space taken last weekend when our new flooring was complete. Among other additions, doors were hung, window moldings installed and walls painted. Soon we will have more pictures to share of this very exciting, very domestic project. But for now, prepare to be floored.

The view from the bedroom area to the stairs

Behind door number one: the boiler room! Behind door number two? A brand new 3/4 bath :)

More closet space!

New laundry sink in the laundry room.

Arguably the most beautiful part of this project: the new stairs. They look even better now with the banister that was installed after this photo was taken.

Making progress

A finished basement it materializing in our house before our eyes. Each night (unless we are too dog tired) we creep down stairs into the construction zone and check out the progress. Tonight we snapped some pictures after the guys left at 8:30! They put in a 12 hour day and have been working like gang busters and you can tell. It looks like a completely different place with drywall up on half of the walls, the inside stairs nearly finished, new baseboard heating with digital thermostat that works!, and a new steel door. We are very excited. The project has proved to be entertaining as relative bystanders too, breaking up our generally quiet lifestyle. Often as we are mulling around upstairs (read: sitting on the couch, watching TV - don't be fooled that we are being productive or anything) we hear our dear workers downstairs. It's the expected saw buzzing, hammer banging, and general racket but now and then if you're lucky it's punctuated by the chorus "Don't You Want Me Baby? Don't you want me oooooohhh" of The Human League's "Don't You Want Me" belted out in thick Polish accent or maybe a little Madonna here and there. Many reasons to smile around here lately....
